Ocean Theatre Company began in 1996 in Brisbane, Australia.

Its first production, Anything Goes, was staged in January 1997 at the Tivoli Theatre, Brisbane. This was followed by Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins to critical acclaim. Singin’ in the Rain soon succeeded in the Queensland Conservatorium.

Singin’ was nominated for 6 awards including Best Director, Best Musical Director and Best Choreographer and won 3 (Best Musical, Best Set and Best Actor).

In 2002 Ocean became a private limited company which then produced the successful musical comedy Lucky Stiff marking it's first step into the theatre scene in London.

It then produced Cosi, at the Bridewell Theatre, The Pirates of Penzance, on board The Golden Hinde and a new musical, The Music is the Hero.

Ocean is currently in pre-production for a brand new play, an new musical and an comedy from an old source, as well as planning for a devised production based around the history and development of fingerprinting and its uses in modern forensic science.
