IGNITE! GALA CONCERT

August 7 - 8, 2021

Ocean Theatre Company relaunches with

IGNITE! GALA CONCERT

August 7 - 8, 2021
In the glorious grounds of Heathfield School, Ascot

The Ignite! Gala Concert will be a celebration of everything restarting after lockdown.

To inspire, motivate and dream of bigger and better things.

To ignite your love of theatre.

To ignite your hopes.

To ignite your dreams.

2 performances each day: 2pm and 6pm.
Running time approx. 2 hours.
Outdoor performances

It will be an outdoor event under the glorious summer sky so you can bring your picnic blanket, hamper and drinks and enjoy the talent of Ocean in this special event.

Socially distanced grassed areas for blankets and chairs.

In addition you can pre-book a pitch to erect your own gazebo. All available when booking tickets.

With 4 performances over 2 days, the concert will be songs and dances from shows that we normally couldn’t do at Ocean.

  • Some shows are ‘ok’ but have a great song buried within it.

  • Some shows are just not appropriate  - but a hidden gem can be found.

  • Some shows we can’t get the rights to, so we’ve taken a song from these elusive shows as well.

We shortlisted over 90 songs down to a hit collection of classic and new tunes.

With all singing, dancing, some surprises and fun along the way. Something for everyone to enjoy.

With hits from shows like MAMMA MIA, RENT, SHREK, CABARET, HAIRSPRAY, BLOOD BROTHERS, and many, many more.

The cast is made up of the current members, alumni and one of our youth members.

A real celebration of who we are, how we’ve been, and why we are going to ignite the world with our passion, drive and creativity.

BOOKING INFORMATION

We are meeting the Industry Standard for following government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, having a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

Every theatre performance is unique, but this is especially the case at this site where the stage, grass and entire auditorium are uncovered.

Each visit can be distinctly different as the weather and light spontaneously interact with the play. Warm or cool, clear or overcast, the point at which dusk turns to night, being outdoors all adds a thrilling contribution to our work and is an integral part of your experience here.

It's best to come prepared for all types of weather: bringing your own shade in the afternoon is particularly important as is a jumper for the end of evening performances. So sun hats, sun cream, sunglasses, raincoats and rain hats should all be considered.

Will I need to wear a mask?

We recommend the wearing of face coverings when arriving, leaving, moving around the site, and using our toilet facilities.

All our performances will be relaxed.  If you do leave your seat during the performance, we ask you to cover your face as you may briefly pass near to other audience members.

Will I need to show proof of vaccination when I visit?

No. We do not require you to have proof of vaccination.

What if I have Covid symptoms?

If you or anyone in your household is unwell, please do not visit the concert.

A First Aider will be on site.

Where is it?

In a new outdoor via at:

Heathfield School

enter off Priory Road

Where do I sit?

You may seat yourself within the area that is suitable for you and allowing for social distancing.

The venue is not like a theatre.

  • The front section is just for blankets only. No chairs allowed.

  • Then middle area is for blankets and chairs.

  • The rear section has space for only six pitches which you can bring your own gazebos to erect yourself. These must be booked in advance.

  • These pitches can be booked for an additional charge (£20) when you book your tickets.

  • The 6 pitches are booked on a first come, first served basis.

If you are unsure about where to sit, please ask us and we’ll be happy to help.

Will there be food, drink and snacks to buy?

No. There will be no food, drink or bar facilities at the performances. We strongly encourage you to bring your own.

We strongly encourage patrons to come fully stocked with a picnic and drink refreshments.

There will be bins on site however we ask that all patrons take their rubbish home with them at the end of the performance.

Will there be toilets?

Yes. There will be toilets available.

When can I arrive?

Patrons are welcome to arrive from one hour before the performance begins to enjoy the auditorium with a picnic.

What should I wear?

We strongly recommend bringing some warm layers for when the sun goes down. Pack your cardigans, wraps and jackets so you can take full advantage of the stunning outdoor setting during the evening.

Please note, you will be walking on grass so will need to wear appropriate footwear.

Can I bring a pram or buggy into the theatre?

The venue is outdoors on grass. Prams and buggies are welcome however we would ask you to be considerate of other patrons views of the stage and store them to the side.

Can I bring my dog?

We regret that no dogs - other than guide dogs - will be admitted to the venue.

What is the running time?

About 2 hours. We expect the concert to be just under two hours including an interval.

What if the concert is cancelled?

Performances will not generally be cancelled because of weather conditions and may continue in wet weather. The decision to cancel a performance due to the weather is made at our discretion and for the safety of our cast and crew.

Refunds are only provided if a performance is cancelled. If the performance is cancelled, we can transfer those tickets to a future performance of IGNITE! Or any other future Ocean production in the next 12 months.

Do I need to do Track and Trace?

In accordance with Track and Trace rules, we are required to record the contact details of your party when you attend a performance and will do so via the ticket booking system.

This information will not be used for any purpose other than the government’s Track and Trace programme.  After 21 days, it will be destroyed.

Can I buy tickets at the venue?

No. All tickets will need to be pre-booked. There will be no Box Office on site.

What about the weather?

Performances will only ever be cancelled or abandoned in the event of bad weather, which is deemed by the management to pose a health and safety risk for the performers. In any case, performances will never be cancelled before their advertised starting time.

In some cases, we may choose to delay the start time of a show for reasons including weather forecasts we may have received.

A quick guide to being prepared

here are some tips that may help you….

  • As the venue is all grass, we advise visitors to wear sensible footwear.

  • Afternoon performances can be very hot, we suggest you wear a hat for comfort.

  • It can get cold quickly in the evening, bring warm clothing even if the day has been hot.

  • Seating is on grass, cushions and chairs may be brought to the venue.

  • Performances are only cancelled in extreme conditions, we do play in the rain!

  • The use of umbrellas is not permitted during performances, in consideration of other audience members.

  • If the weather looks dodgy for a performance, check our website, we'll keep you updated.
