Main Company (14-19)
Ocean's Main Company offers 14 to 19 year olds the opportunity to perform in high quality, famous productions and develop performance and personal skills in a safe, friendly and highly-creative environment.
What is Ocean Theatre Company?
Ocean is a theatre company of two halves. In 2009 it established the Main Company for young people aged between 14 and 18 years. Since then, we have expanded to our Ocean Youth Company for 9 to 13 year olds.
Both companies meet for rehearsals on a weekly basis. In our classes we are constantly working towards drama, dancing and voice skills and the next performance in which we aim to achieve the highest standards possible.
We aim to help young people of all abilities from a variety of backgrounds to develop their artistic, personal and social skills.
In addition, for every production we assign Dance Captains and Singing Captains from the cast to work closely with the Choreographer and Musical Director. These roles allow those students to take on a leadership role, run warm-ups and rehearsals and gain new skills whilst benefitting the production.
Also, we have Alumni members return to work with us during our production week in the theatre. These members assist in a variety of roles such as Assistant Stage Managers who get to work alongside the professional staff.
Ocean is for anyone who wants to discover new skills, build confidence, make friends and have fun! It is a wonderful place to find inspiration and limitless imagination.
It is a nurturing, educational and fun environment for young people who are interested in theatre, whether their desire is to build confidence and make friends, or to ultimately work in the professional world of theatre.
Our goal is to have as much fun as we can whilst helping students to learn their craft. All of our teaching artists are COVID trained, hold DBS Checks, and our senior staff have Child Welfare training.
Our focus is to help you express yourself.
We develop young artists to create insightful young adults and inspired theatre.
Do I have to audition to join Ocean?
No.
The Main Company is open to everyone aged of 14 to 19, whatever your ability..
We then hold auditions normally in week 2 for the roles. These are not compulsory and help us assign the roles to those who want a speaking or solo singing part.

Our staff are professional theatre makers whose primary interest is in making theatre with young people. They are committed to creating a space that’s inclusive of all children and perspectives. Everyone involved is passionate about offering the ultimate theatrical experience for young people as well as performances with the highest production values.
Every April and October we produce fully staged musicals to sell out audiences.
Other opportunities with Ocean ?
Throughout the year we are often asked to perform at events and have appeared at Ascot Relay for Life, Ascot Racecourse, Sunningdale Carnival and the Sunninghill Street Fayre.
We are also regulars on BBC Radio Berkshire.
